The college offers  Diploma Courses in Civil, ECE, ICE, Computer, Garment technology and Commercial  Practice , Sprawled in   5 acre campus, located 0.5 Km from Madurai Periyar Bus stand.

Institute provide Engineering and non-Engineering educational and training services at the Diploma level to women students who have passed 10th std  +2, and ITI (10thd std + 2 years) selected according to the state prescribed norms using the Tamil Nadu Government specified curriculum and evaluation system.

The Government polytechnic college for women, Madurai  is a post-secondary Technical education and training institute offering competency based Diploma courses and non formal continuing education skills training programs to meet  the requirements of industries and business organization. It also enhances the need of the unemployed , socially disadvantaged and physically challenged women belonging to rural and urban areas by providing them good placement services and entrepreneur development programs.

Admission Details

Candidates belonging to  Tamilnadu only will be considered for admission.

However, the  Following categories of candidates are also eligible to apply subject to certain conditions.

• Children of central Government employees not domicile of Tamil Nadu but serving in Tamilnadu continuously for a period of 5 years at the time of submission of application.
• Children of persons employed in private or public or Govt. Recognized institutions continuously for 5 years.

Educational Qualification:

1. The S.S.L.C Examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu. (OR)
2. The Anglo Indian High School Examination with eligibility for Higher Secondary Course in Tamil Nadu (OR)
3. The Matriculation Examination of Tamil Nadu. (OR)
4. Any other Examinations recognized as equivalent to the above by the Board of Secondary Education, Tamilnadu.

Age Limit:   No Age Limit

Admission to Second year (Lateral Entry):

A pass in HSC ( Academic ) or ( Vocational ) and ITI (10 +2years) courses mentioned in  the  Higher Secondary Schools in TamilNadu affiliated to the TamilNadu Higher Secondary Board with eligibility for university Courses of study or equivalent examination.

MODE OF SELECTION

Regular Diploma Courses

Selection of eligible candidates for the courses in the Polytechnic Colleges and Special Institutions will be made based on the total marks secured in the qualifying examination and the ranking will be done in the order of total marks secured by the candidates in the SSLC / Equivalent examination following communal reservation. In respect of candidates whose maximum marks in the qualifying examination more than 500 as per scheme, the maximum marks shall be reduced to a base of 500 and rank arrived at along with other candidates.
